Deep Seek Is Banned…

China’s newly launched AI chatbot, Deep Seek, has been temporarily banned in South Korea. As of 17 February 2025, Seoul authorities announced that Deep Seek has been banned across the entire country due to security concerns. Officials from Deep Seek are currently in talks with South Korean authorities to address these security issues. Once the concerns are resolved, the chatbot will be allowed to operate in South Korea again.
For now, Deep Seek has been removed from South Korea’s app stores. However, users who already have the app installed can still use it.
Apart from South Korea, several other countries have raised concerns about Deep Seek’s data storage capabilities. In response, the company stated that Deep Seek operates on highly secure servers in China, making the chances of a data breach very low.
Additionally, the South Korean government has advised users who already have the app installed to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal details while using it.
