Electricity Prices Are Likely To Increase in Pakistan Latest News

According to sources, 8 electric supply companies in Pakistan have requested NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) to increase security deposits by up to 200%. NEPRA has scheduled a hearing for this application on 11th February 2025.
If NEPRA approves this application, it will affect all types of electricity consumers, including domestic, industrial, commercial, and agricultural consumers.
Last month, in January, NEPRA had already increased electricity prices by 20 paisa per unit. The 8 electricity companies that have applied for an increase in security deposits are listed below:

- GEPCO
- MEPCO
- PESCO
- FESCO
- HESCO
- QESCO
- TESCO
This change will not affect lifeline and prepaid electricity users. Moreover, customers benefiting from the winter package and using additional electricity will also be exempt from this quarterly adjustment..
