IMF Team Reached In Pakistan: To Grant Another $1.1 Billion After Talks

According to reports, an IMF delegation has arrived in Pakistan for talks under the supervision of the Secretary of Finance. After finalizing the discussions, the IMF will release another $1.1 billion installment to Pakistan. The IMF delegation will be led by Nathan Porter, while Pakistan’s team will be headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

It has also been reported that these talks between the IMF and Pakistan will continue for two weeks. During this period, the IMF will review all commitments made by Pakistan and, after sending the final report to the IMF head office, the installment will be disbursed.

Sources indicate that the IMF delegation will engage in discussions with officials from the Ministry of Finance, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Power Division, and State Bank of Pakistan. Pakistan will present a report on the implementation of the conditions of the $7 billion loan program.

Additionally, Pakistan will submit a performance report for the first half of the current fiscal year to the IMF. The delegation will also receive a briefing on taxation in the agricultural sector. Moreover, the IMF will be informed about taxes in the property sector. Pakistan will also provide a report on the implementation of the condition requiring retailers to be brought into the tax net. Based on these discussions, the IMF delegation will finalize recommendations on the disbursement of $1.1 billion to Pakistan.
