Pakistan to Launch Rs. 10,000 New Currency Note? – State Bank Gives Latest Statement

February 2026 Right now a big rumor is spreading fast on WhatsApp, TikTok and Facebook groups: Pakistan is going to introduce a new Rs. 10,000 currency note very soon, maybe in early 2027.

People are sharing photos and videos of supposed new note designs and saying that old notes will stop working after some time.

Today the State Bank of Pakistan came out with a short but clear statement:

“Till now, State Bank has not made any official decision or plan to launch a Rs. 10,000 note or any other new denomination. All the photos, videos and messages going viral on social media are just rumors and not true.”

State Bank also said that if they ever plan to bring any new note in future, they will give at least 12 to 18 months notice to the public – and the announcement will come only through official website, newspapers and TV channels, not through random forwards.

What people are saying in the rumors

  • The new Rs. 10,000 note will have better security features.
  • It may come in January or February 2027.
  • Some posts even show fake sample pictures (mostly from old art designs or competitions).

But State Bank has clearly said: no official statement has come yet and no final decision has been taken.

What is the real situation?

  • Right now Pakistan has notes from Rs. 10 to Rs. 5,000 – and all of them are 100% valid.
  • If a Rs. 10,000 note ever comes, it will take 1.5 to 2 years of planning, printing, updating ATMs and telling people.
  • So even if the government thinks about it, 2027 start is the earliest possible time – and that is also just a rumor for now.

What should you do right now?

  • Don’t panic – keep using your money normally. No note is going to be banned suddenly.
  • Don’t believe fake photos or videos – most of them are edited or old pictures.
  • Don’t give money to anyone who says “book the new note” or “exchange your old notes” – this is 100% scam.
  • Wait for official news – only trust State Bank of Pakistan website or big TV channels.

Until State Bank or the government officially announces something, this is only a rumor. Keep calm and don’t get fooled.
