Pakistan’s Exports Declined By 17%, Increasing The Trade Deficit

Pakistan’s exports in February 2025 recorded a 17.35% decline compared to January 2025, according to the trade statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
In the previous month, exports amounted to $2.439 billion, while in January 2025, the figure stood at $2.95 billion. February also witnessed a 9.89% decline in imports, bringing the total import volume down to $4.73 billion. At the same time, the trade deficit experienced a 0.35% reduction.
Despite this short-term improvement, the trade deficit for the first seven months of the current fiscal year expanded by 6.33%. From July to January, the trade deficit climbed to $15.78 billion, while exports grew by 8.17%, exceeding $22 billion.
Meanwhile, imports rose by 7.4% during the same period, reaching $37.8 billion in total. Additionally, when comparing February 2025 with the preceding month (January 2025), exports declined by 5.57%.
