Pakistan’s Name On India’s Jersey Infuriated Indians

The jersey for the Indian cricket team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was unveiled today, featuring Pakistan’s name prominently as the host nation. This sparked outrage among Indian cricket fans, who took to social media to express their anger, creating a storm online.

A few weeks ago, the BCCI had refused to include the host nation’s name on the Indian team’s jersey, leading Indian fans to mock Pakistan. However, the ICC later issued strict instructions to the BCCI, mandating that the host country’s name must be displayed on the jersey. This left the BCCI with no choice but to include Pakistan’s name on the Indian team’s jersey.

Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant, participated in a photoshoot wearing the new jersey. As soon as the photos were shared on social media, the Pakistan logo caught everyone’s attention, leading to a heated exchange between fans of both teams, with trolls and memes flooding the platforms.
