Zakat is a compulsory charity in Islam. It became obligatory in the second year of the Hijri calendar. Any Muslim who owns wealth above a set threshold (called nisab) must pay 2.5% (zakat percentage). This threshold is often linked to the value of silver or gold (zakat nisab 2025).

Who Must Pay Zakat?

Every adult, sane Muslim with wealth above nisab owes Zakat . It is not given to parents, children, or a spouse. Opinions vary on giving it to non-Muslims. If your wealth is below nisab, then zakat is not due.

Zakat on Gold

Zakat on Cash

Cash is also included. If you have 1 lakh rupees and held it for a lunar year, you owe 2.5% (2,500 PKR). Combine cash, gold, silver, and any business goods, then apply 2.5%.

Zakat Deduction & Forms
